Chameleon pigment is a special pigment that has the property of changing color with viewing angles and lighting conditions, similar to the skin changes of chameleon reptiles. This pigment uses an optical effect to produce a multi-color effect through the interference of tiny pigment particles and reflected light.

Chameleon pigments work on the basis of a multi-layered structure and the phenomenon of phase difference of reflected light. Typically, chameleon pigments consist of several layers of film superimposed on each other, with different refractive indices and thicknesses. When light hits the surface of the pigment, these thin film layers reflect different wavelengths of light and interfere to produce specific colors. By adjusting the thickness and combination of film layers, the color of the pigment can be controlled.

Since the color change of chameleon pigments is based on the interference effect of light, changes in viewing angles and light source conditions can produce different color effects. When viewed from different angles, the color of the pigment can transition from one color to another, creating visually stunning effects.

Chameleon pigments are widely used in a variety of fields, including:

1. Automotive Paint: Chameleon pigments are used in automotive paints to create a unique color change effect that provides visual appeal.
2. Cosmetics: Chameleon pigments are used in cosmetics such as eyeshadow, nail polish, etc., to give a changeable look to personal care products.
3. Printing and Packaging: Chameleon pigments are used in the printing and packaging industry to add visual effects to product labels, posters, etc.
4. Arts and crafts: Chameleon pigments are used by artists and handicraft makers to create unique pieces of visual art.
